Students that began their kindergarten year were eligble to attend this year's Safety Town in August.
It is organized by the Springfield Police Department with support of all Springfield and Lakemore Safety Services, Akron Coach, Springfield Schools and on site was GASP (Guardians Advocating Child Safety and Protection).Students are taught about bus safety and take a ride on a school bus. They learn about crossing the road when the bus driver gives the go ahead. They learn not to touch guns in the house, what to do in a fire, how a tow truck works and what everyone's job is in these safety forces.
This year the kids rode the bus to Springfield Town Hall where they learned about the fire and police departments.
They road tricycles on the "town map" learning road safety and sidewalk safety.
Kids learned so much more. Each school year parents have an opportunity to enroll their kindergartener in Safety Town when registering them for their first year of school at Springfield Local Schools.
Here are some pictures of the three days of fun safety learning.
